I was somewhat surprised to find out that my university (I'm getting my BS in Information Systems at American Sentinel) was all over social media sites, or "Web 2.0" as people tend to call them. They're on Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and while the communities there are still rather small, they make posts and update content on a near daily basis.

I think that a lot of other schools and businesses in general are attacking social media pretty heavily. I'm not sure what kinds of returns they're getting, but you can see how much of a hot topic these things are when CNN and others have DAILY Twitter updates! It's definitely a growing community, so one that businesses will try to exploit (especially given the state of the current economy, and the fact that social media is free!).

To summarize: Interesting study!
